Sabine's 5th birthday photos.

Sabine poses at Sea World in Orlando, FL, where she spent a week in May with her mom and dad!

On April 15, 2007, Sabine (along with her mom and dad) braved torrential rain for a day in Manhattan to see Go, Diego, Go! live at Radio City Music Hall!

Photos from Sabine's 3rd birthday.

Easter 2004 - Sabine didn't hesitate to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap, and she readily participated in the parties and egg hunts that accompany the holiday.  We even went to Easter Sunday service at St. Luke's - and she was fairly well-behaved (I kept a bag of chocolate in the diaper bag)!

At right, Mark took a photo of us in front of the house - just in time for Mothers' Day!

Sabine's reaction to Santa (below left) this year was definitely not as good as last year.  She was gripped with fear the moment we placed her into the jolly man's lap, despite the fact that the man dressed as Santa was none other than her beloved Grandpa.  What's more, she saw him put the suit on!  Well, maybe next year.  In the photo at right, she has no trouble standing next to her Dad, thank goodness!

Below, Sabine places (or plays with) an ornament.  Later, we got the three of them together in front of the finished tree for a great sister-picture.

The fireplace isn't quite finished yet, but I couldn't resist getting the girls together for a picture in front of it.  Sabine's sisters are so good with her, I really couldn't ask for more!  In the photo at right, Sabine insisted, of course, on helping Rory and Jaime decorate the tree.  She didn't do too bad, either.

Below, just two poses from her latest photo shoot - this time we took her to JC Penney's where they worked a miracle by getting these smiles out of her.  Every pose was a good one despite over a half an hour wait in a sitting area filled with cranky kids!

Sabine absolutely fell in love with the helium balloon she's holding in the picture below.  She carried it everywhere, ate her dinner with the ribbon clenched firmly in her little fist, and even fell asleep holding it.  It was still there when she woke up, too!  And the thing lasted for about a week!  What a great toy!

Below, Sabine is chilling out in the back of Grandpa's pickup truck.  All the kids (even the big ones) piled into the truck to go Trick-or-Treating up and down the hill.  Sabine was dressed as a bat for Halloween, although she had several other costumes for various other parties and events, including a ladybug and bee.  She didn't much care for the costumes, but she sure enjoyed the treats!

First footsteps!!!

The biggest news yet is that Sabine is finally walking!  She began taking her first independent footsteps on August 4th!  The photo at right was taken that day (at the doctor's office - she also had an ear infection!)  But as you can see, she's thrilled with her new accomplishment!

The photo at left was taken at the Tunkhannock carnival the next day.  So much to look at . . . we all had a great time!

It's Her Party!

Sabine's birthday party was great fun!  I made a three-tier cake (with strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla layers) and decorated it with cookies in the shape of butterflies, bees, ladybugs, and dragonflies.  She got some really great things and had a wonderful time playing with all the kids - and, of course, - eating her cake!

We had all sorts of great food, too - watermelon, pink lemonade, corn on the cob, and shake and bake chicken.  It was a beautiful (although very humid) summer day!

Happy Birthday to Sabine!!!

Although we have her party until August 2nd, our little darling officially turned one-year old in July!  We didn't do much on her actual birthday, just played and hung out most of the day.  We had a little cake around 8 p.m. when Sabine's Aunt Steph and Uncle Derek got home from work, and Sabine had a blast opening presents (yes, she really did show an interest!!) and playing with the kids.  Another high mark for her was eating the cake, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Just two weeks shy of
her first birthday!

Her first time in the ocean, in Connecticut over the July 4th weekend!

Now that she's one, Sabine is looking less like a baby and more like a little girl!  She now has four teeth, two on the bottom and two on the top, and showing signs that more are on the way.  She is very determined when it comes to feeding herself, and very insistent on holding the spoon or fork herself.  She's also very opinionated.  She loves to play with phones and remotes, and if you take it away from her - look out!  Temper, temper . . .

Although Sabine has had the strength and balance for some time now, she still hasn't taken those first few steps on her own.  All in good time . . .

Sabine's first fireworks!  We actually saw them on July 3rd because we were headed for the beach on July 4th!
As you can see, she loved watching the display.  We had a wonderful time!
