Sabine's
third page At almost nine months old, Sabine's personality really began to take shape! She just keeps getting cuter and more enjoyable, and the wonderful things she's learning are a constant amazement! She began trying to walk (with assistance, of course) and she developed strong opinions about what she likes to eat (as long as it's grown-up food, she would eat it!). She had two bottom teeth (on the bottom) and she used them well. Also, she showed an absolute delight in animals. She would squeal whenever she spotted one. And she really began to show an interest in other children, especially her sisters and her cousins. Nathan could make her laugh so hard, you couldn't help but laugh yourself. She and Lauren would sit on the floor and play together, and Ayden was always trying to show her something, saying, "Bean, C'mon . . ."). When her sisters were around, she'd entertain herself for quite awhile just watching them. She loves to hang out with the big girls. Our baby is growing up so fast! It's exciting to note her milestones, but at the same time, heartbreaking to just feel the time slipping past! |

Sabine's first Halloween - I just couldn't decide, so she had two costumes - a pea in the pod and a hot pepper. She wore the pea for the Sunday School party and for Trick-or-Treating on Halloween night. She wore the chili pepper for the Pumpkin Party. |

As soon as we discovered we were expecting, we decided we wanted to raise our child in the same manner in which we had lived up to that point. That includes travel! Our first trip with Sabine (when she was just a few days shy of turning 12 weeks old) was a wedding in Key West. Although I worried about what the air travel would do to her ears, she was a perfect angel on both flights going down, and both flights coming home. In fact, she slept more than anything, and was very pleasant the few times she did wake up!
I have to note that the trip wouldn't have been possible without Sabine's Grandma! She accompanied us and was a lifesaver when it came to keeping Sabine occupied and happy, helping us carry or stroller her to and from various tourist attractions, carting that stroller and the carseat through several huge airports, and babysitting so I could attend the wedding reception. In the photos below, from the left, you can see her with her Dad in the Hogs Breath Saloon (no, she didn't need ID!), with me atop the Hotel La Concha (the tallest building in Key West), and again with her Dad in his tuxedo at the Audubon House. |

| While Sabine continues to grow and reach new milestones, we certainly won't forget her birth, or the 10 wonderful months that led up to her arrival . . . click here to revisit hospital and ultrasound photos, the nursery, pregnancy pictures, and the meaning of Sabine's name. | ||||||

The photo at left was taken when Sabine turned 10 weeks old. Miraculously, she smiled for the camera! We had Sabine baptized in September, in the same church in which we were married. She was a perfect princess - she never even cried when the Reverend sprinkled her head. She even held out for some photos. I love the one of her sisters holding her, above. The ones below were actually taken by her Dad the next day. She was exactly eight weeks old. |

On the day she turned four weeks old, we happened to be visiting Aunt Stephanie, who can coax some pretty funny expressions out of Sabine.
Shortly before that, we decided to do a "family picture" with Sabine and her sisters. Although Sabine wasn't really thrilled about the photo shoot, it's still pretty special in that it's the first photo of all of us together. |
